Sebastian has been delighting international audiences on every continent for over 30 years with the ALPINE CONCERT ZITHER.
Born and raised in Salzburg, Austria, the city of Mozart and the setting for "The Sound of Music", he took his first music lessons just a few doors away from Mozart's birthplace in the famous Getreidegasse in Salzburg.
Later on in life, he studied under one of Austria's foremost zither virtuosos, Prof. FRANZ BRANDLHOFER. In 1975 Sebastian invited the Professor to visit him in Vancouver BC and to do some recordings at the renowned Pinewood Sound Studio. During that time Franz Brandlhofer recorded four complete albums which can only be described as: An absolute collectors item for anyone who loves the sound of the Zither! They are also available on this website.
Sebastian's travels, with his zither never far from his side, have taken him virtually around the world. His expert musicianship and love for the zither brings out the instrument’s full potential. The comment frequently heard at performances is how the music is "mellow and relaxing, yet bright and lively".
Enthusiastically received by people of all cultures and backgrounds, he was honored in 1993 by the government of Austria with a gold medal for being an ambassador of goodwill, communicating with the international language of beautiful music.
Now he is retired and lives in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of British Columbia, Canada.
